Connect:Collect is a print exchange and exhibition which will introduce emerging and mid-career printmakers from Oklahoma to artists and organizations from across the US. exchange aims to highlight Oklahoma City as a center for artistic dialogue and collaboration. 

This project is designed to connect and encourage artists to create original print editions that will be exchanged and exhibited as a collection. Printmaking is a largely misunderstood artistic practice. With the proliferation of photographic and digital prints, fine art prints in traditional techniques are undervalued by their confusion with digital reproductions. This does a disservice to both artist and audience as prints represent an accessible way for individuals to collect and appreciate a variety of original artworks. This project seeks to highlight the physical work of the printmaker as a distinct art form and therefore no digital reproductions will be accepted.  Only methods of traditional printmaking (relief, collagraph, lithography, serigraphy, intaglio, engraving, etc. ) will be included to further educate the visitors on the difference between an original fine art print and a copy or reproduction. With this project we hope to bring together printmakers from across the country to highlight the growing contemporary art scene in Oklahoma City.
